Turin Hotels and Accommodation: Cityscape picture showing layoutWhether you're visiting Turin for the weekend, for business or as part of your annual holiday, it's important to make sure that you choose the best accommodation to suit your needs. Turin has a good choice of lodging options, offering everything from luxury hotels and hotel chains, to more modest bed and breakfast establishments and self-catering apartments. Hotels are graded on a system of one to five stars.

Turin is still largely known for its business travel facilities, rather than as a tourist destination. Consequently, it's always worth checking whether lower accommodation rates are available for guest rooms if you're visiting at weekends or during the summer.

Most of Turin's mid-range hotels are located in the area around the main train station, Porto Nuova. This is a busy area of the city and it's worth bearing this in mind when choosing accommodation. Whilst some hotels overlook busy squares, it is possible to find the odd one that is tucked away down a quiet side street. Most mid-range hotels in Turin offer comfortable rooms with decent facilities. In a city that doesn't attract crowds of tourists, holiday visitors are particularly welcome.

Hostel and budget hotel accommodation is, as you would expect, usually cheap and cheerful around the Turin area. Family rooms are often available in hostels, together with more traditional dormitory accommodation.

Like any major European city, the centre of Turin has several upmarket hotels. The Grand Hotel Sitea on the Via Carlo Alberti is the place where the city's football team, Juventus, are reputed to stay when in town.

If you prefer to stay outside the city, then the surrounding hills and suburbs offer plenty of opportunities for lodging. Some particularly unusual hotel accommodation can be found in the Lingotto District of Turin. Part of the old Fiat factory has been transformed into the Meridien Lingotto, a deluxe modernist hotel directly connected to the city's Exhibition and Congress Centre. Next door, Le Meridien Art + Tec even has its own rather unusual jogging track on the roof.

Turin also has a number of campsites, with the most conveniently located for visitors being the Villa Rey. Its hillside location offers a welcome escape from the summer heat of the city after a busy day of sightseeing.
